The Marcia dei Cajs is a non-competitive run and walk held each May in Battaglia di Fagagna, a very pretty small village located 16 kilometres from the city of Udine in the north-eastern part of Italy.
Several hundred runners and hikers take part in this truly delightful event every year, even in bad weather.
Three scenic and well marked and marshalled routes are available, approximately 5km, 10km and 20km long. Participants can still decide on the course which route they want to take.
All three routes are multi-terrain loops through woods, vineyards and flowery meadows.
As the marcia takes place on the last day of the Sagre dai Cajs festival, runners get the opportunity to taste some local specialities after the run, such as cajs (snails) or frico, a cheese-based dish that is typical for the Friuli area.
