Velika Kladuša (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Saturday 20 May 2017
With 63 finishers in last year's 5k race and 52 finishers in the children's races, this međunarodna atletska utrka ("international athletics race") is a relatively small running event.
But every year it attracts a number of elite and amateur runners from all around the world to the town of Velika Kladuša, which is located in the north-western corner of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the border with Croatia.
In 2016, Kenyan athletes took the laurels in the 5k race. Edwin Cheruiyot Melly was the fastest finisher in a time of 15 minutes 16 seconds. Agnes Chebet was the first woman in 17 minutes 11 seconds.
The course is flat, fast and certified, starting and ending on Trg mladih ("Youth Square"), next to the gradska džamija ("Town Mosque"), which you can see on the above picture.
