La Cimoliana is a marcia non competitiva, a non-competitive running and hiking event held under the auspices of FIASP (Federazione Italiana Amatori Sport Per tutti).

Set in the protected Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the north-eastern part of Italy, the event offers three very scenic out-and-back routes, 6km, 14km and 30km long.

You can decide on the course which distance you want to run or jog or walk. The registration fees are the same for all three routes.

There's no timekeeping, no results lists, no pressure to finish as quick as possible, so you can take your time to marvel at the stunning scenery.

Starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Cimolais, which is at an elevation of 650 metres, ...

... the route runs along the Val Cimoliana, a steep alpine valley that is surrounded by imposing mountains which are up to 2700 metres high.

The highest point on the course (and the turnaround point for the 30k runners) is at an elevation of 1200 metres at the Rifugio Pordenone mountain hut.

The route is a mix of asphalt and gravel roads which are closed to traffic for the time of the event (from 9am until 4pm).
