Rovinj (Croatia), Sunday 23 April 2017
Although it is staged in one of the prettiest towns on the Northern Adriatic, the Rovinjski polumaraton (Rovinj Half Marathon) is a rather small running event.
Last year, the half marathon had 94 finishers, and just 36 runners took part in the supporting 5k run.
Starting and finishing on the main square of Rovinj, which sits on the west coast of the Istrian pensinsula in Croatia, the route is varied and scenic.
It takes the runners on mixed terrain along the coast as well as through the Old Town, tourist resorts, residential areas and woodland.
But it's not really a race to set a PB. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the half marathon course is about 32 metres. From start to finish, the route features approximately 158 metres of ascent.
