Landshut läuft ("Landshut runs") every year in spring along the River Isar which flows through the city centre of Landshut, a very beautiful old city of about 70,000 people, situated in the Niederbayern (Lower Bavaria) region in the southern part of Germany.

These races are available:

• 600m, 1km, 2km Bambini-, Kinder- und Jugendlauf (children's races)
• 5km Lauf (5k run; the course is 4.8km long)
• 10km Lauf (10k run; the course is 10.2km long)
• 21.1km Halbmarathon (13.1 miles half marathon)
• 6.5km Walking (4 miles walking and nordic walking)

The event has grown considerably in popularity in recent years. With more than 2,300 finishers in the 2016 edition, it has become the biggest running event in the region.

So far, the start and the finish were on the athletics track on Mitterwöhr, a 3km-long island in the Isar. In 2017, for the first time, the races will begin and end in the colourful Old Town, right in front of the Rathaus (Town Hall):

 

 

The route will run, like before, on mixed terrain (gravel and asphalt) along the river, through lovely woods and around Mitterwöhr island:

 

 

The entry fees will be donated entirely to a good cause.
