Keszthelyi Kilométerek (KKM) is a popular running event that draws more than 1,500 runners to the old town of Keszthely, which sits at the western end of the 79km-long Lake Balaton in Hungary.

The event begins with the children's races on Saturday morning, followed by the 2.5km and 5km races in the afternoon and the pasta party and a live concert in the evening.

The 21.1km half marathon and the 42.2km marathon kick off on Sunday at 10am.

Starting on Keszthely's main square, the route is a 10.55km-long loop. So, the half marathon is two laps and the marathon is four laps.

Both races are also open to relay teams (2x10.55km, 4x10.55km) and to wheelchair athletes and handbike racers.

The route runs through the town centre, residential and commercial areas, along the lakefront and through the park of the grand Festetics Palace (pictured).
