Bucegi Mountains (Romania), 17-18 July 2015
Held in the imposing Bucegi Mountains in Romania, the Marathon 7500 is an ultra marathon trail running event for experienced mountain runners.
The event offers two extremely demanding loop courses:
- 45km ‘Hobby Class’ route with 3200m of elevation gain
- 90km ‘Elite Class’ route with 7500m of elevation gain
Participants must form a team of two runners. Both team members run the full distance. They must run and finish the race together.
The start and the finish are at an elevation of about 1600m at the ‘Mountain Rescue Team Headquarters Pestera’, near the beautiful Ialomița Cave Monastery.
The highest point on the course is at about 2500m above sea level at the Cabana Omu mountain hut.
As the event takes place in a high-alpine environment, participants must carry some protective clothing and other equipment with them (see details on the event website).
The time limit to complete the course is 14 hours for the 45km race and 35 hours for the 90km race.
