This Silvestrovský běh (New Year's Eve Run) is held in Jihlava, an old town of about 50,000 people, situated on the border between the historical regions of Bohemia and Moravia in the Czech Republic.

The event offers children's races, a 3km run for women, and a 5.9km run for men.

All races begin and end at the Horácký zimní stadion which is home to the HC Dukla Jihlava, the most successful club in the history of Czech ice hockey.

Women run two laps and men run four laps of a scenic course that winds its way through the small Smetanovy sady park and through the northern part of the historic town centre.
