In 2012, for the first time, the Giulietta & Romeo Half Marathon will not form part of the Verona Marathon. The half marathon (which had around 3,300 finishers last time) will be held in February, the full marathon (over 1,500 finishers) in October.

The start of the race will be at Verona's main stadium on the south-western edge of the city. The finish line will be in front of the Arena, the third largest Roman amphitheatre.

Participants will run through various parts of Verona, a beautiful city of art and culture in northern Italy, surrounded by lovely wine-growing regions.

The route consists of a 13km loop and an 8km section. The last kilometres will be run through Verona's historic town centre. Shortly before the finish, competitors will run through the Arena!

Entrants will have to provide a medical certificate to take part in the half marathon. They don't need it, however, for the relay race for teams of two runners (13km + 8km).

In 2011, the winners were Lorenzo Villa (1:11:00) and Eufemia Magro (1:21:53).
