7th Lake Ossiach Night Half Marathon 2011
Bodensdorf (Austria), Friday 17 June 2011
In 2011, the Nachthalbmarathon, a popular summer evening running event in southern Austria, will take place one month earlier than usual. Last year, when the event was held in mid-July, over 700 athletes took part in the either the half marathon, the 7k race for runners and nordic walkers, or the children's races.
Participants will run on mildly undulating roads and cycleways along the shores of the 11km-long Ossiacher See. The route alternates in direction each year. In 2011, the half marathon will start in Ossiach, the lake's main resort, located on the southern shore. The finish will be in Bodensdorf on the northern shore. Before the start, a ferry will bring runners from Bodensdorf to Ossiach.
Last year, the half marathon winners were Franco Plesnikar of Italy (1:15:28) and Ulrike Striednig of Austria (1:32:52).
