Mariahilferstrasse, 15. Bezirk, Wien (Copyright © 2011

Run15 is staged in the 15. Bezirk (15th district), the most multicultural of Vienna's 23 districts. A third of its residents were born outside Austria.

The event offers an 8K race, a 4K fun run, a 2K nordic walking competition, and kids' races.

Participants run out-and-back a 1km-long section of Mariahilfer Strasse, which runs from the inner city westwards through the 6th district to the further outlying 15th district.

The Mariahilfer Strasse is one of Vienna's main shopping streets, but most of the shopping mania takes place in the 6th district, not in the 15th.

In 2010, over 400 runners took part in the event. The top finishers were Urs Schönholzer of Switzerland (26:12) and Gertraud Haller-Peck of Austria (33:18).
