7. Ultner Höfelauf 2010
7th Ulten Farm Run
Kuppelwies/Pracupola (Italy), Sunday 25 July 2010

The route passes many traditional farmhouses in the Ultental.
The Höfelauf is staged in a lovely green alpine valley in Italy's northernmost province of South Tyrol.
The narrow, 40-kilometre-long Ultental (Italian: Val d'Ultimo) leads from Lana, which is near the spa town of Merano, to the foot of the impressive Ortler Alps. Interestingly, ninety-eight per cent of the valley's population speak German as a first language.
The event offers two hilly multi-terrain races (8.4km and 17.9km).
Start and finish is in the small village of Kuppelwies (Italian: Pracupola), situated at an elevation of 1145 metres on the edge of a reservoir with a huge dam.
Both races follow a scenic loop through pastures, woods and villages. The first half is mostly uphill, the second half downhill. Along the course, there are several traditional farm buidings.
In 2009, the winners of the 17.9k were Rudi Brunner (1:08:27) and Edltraud Thaler (1:30:20).
