7th Wine Road Race

This 10km road race takes you through a very small wine-growing region south of Vienna.

The race follows an undulating route from the village of Pfaffstätten to the attractive small old town of Mödling, 15km south of Austria's capital.

After a lap of 1km through Pfaffstätten you will run through the vineyards at the foot of the wooded hills of the Wienerwald ("Vienna Woods") which is on your left.

At the 6.5km mark you will face a 1km-long but mild climb up to the Eichkogel, a small hill and designated nature reserve with some rare plants. From there it's just downhill to the finish at the public swimming pool in Mödling.

Start and finish of the race are at an elevation of approximately 220 metres, the highest point at about 310 metres.

The winners in 2008 were Mario Weiß (34:18) and Irene Reichl (40:59).
