5th Kokoš Mountain Race

 

This is a small, short and fast mountain race at the Slovene/Italian border, about 15km from the centre of the coastal city of Trieste.

The start is at the border crossing near the famous stud farm of Lipica, home of the elegant Lipizzaner horses. The route follows a dirt road which climbs 274 metres in 3.2km (2 miles). The finish is at the mountain hut on Mount Kokoš (674m) where all runners will be served a warm meal.

In 2008, the winners were Marco Moretton from Italy (13:40) and Vanja Krapež from Slovenia (17:23).
