The Majcichovská desiatka (‘Majcichov 10k’) takes place in Majcichov, a village of about 2,200 people situated in a low-lying region in the western part of Slovakia, approximately ten kilometres from the city of Trnava and fifty kilometres from the capital Bratislava.

It has been held, with interruptions, since 1979 and is distinguished as one of the oldest and most prestigious 10k road races in the country.

The course records were set by Jozef Lenčéš (0:29:41) back in 1982 and by Ľudmila Melicherová (0:34:21) in 1987.

Many elite athletes have taken part in the ‘M-10’ but the majority of the participants are regular enthusiast runners enjoying the flat and fast course which has been accurately measured and certified by the Slovak Athletic Federation SAZ.

The race begins at 11.45am with the ceremonial start at the municipal office, from where all participants jog together to the start line.

Starting at the stroke of 12 noon, competitors run back to the municipal office (1,015 metres) and then three laps of a 2,995-metre-long course through the village.
