The Schwedenlauf offers three road races through the town centre of Wismar, a medieval Hanseatic port on Germany's Baltic coast:
- 800m
- 5.1km (one lap)
- 10.2km (two laps)
The starting and finishing line is on Marktplatz, the main square in the Altstadt (Old Town) which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.
The course is an undulating loop through the historic town centre and neighbouring areas.
Some sections are run on cobbles.
The Schwedenlauf forms part of the Schwedenfest (20-23 August 2026), an annual street festival that remembers the time when Wismar was under Swedish rule (1648-1803).
