Held annually in October in Croatia's capital city Zagreb, the Zagrebački maraton features children's races, a 5km run, a 21.1km half marathon and a 42.2km marathon.

All races begin and end on Trg bana Jelačića (Ban Jelačić Square), the main square.

The half marathon is one lap and the full marathon is two laps of a relatively-flat out-and-back course.

At first, competitors run to the suburb of Dubec in the eastern part of the city (ca. 7.8km), passing the zoo and the Stadion Maksimir which serves as the home stadium of the Dinamo Zagreb football club.

They run the same way back to the main square (ca. 15.6km), then westwards along Ilica, Zagreb's main shopping street, and finally back again to Ban Jelačić Square.
