Held annually in May in Mozart's home town, the city of Salzburg in Austria, the Salzburg Marathon features a truly grand setting and a flat and scenic course.

Entrants have the choice between a 10k point-to-point race, a 21.1k half marathon (one lap) and a 42.2k marathon (two laps).

The marathon route is IAAF/AIMS-certified, starting and finishing on Mirabellplatz at the Schloss Mirabell (Mirabell Palace) in the city centre.

On its way through the Old Town, along the River Salzach, through rural areas and woods and around a lovely lake, the route passes a large number of Salzburg's best sights, including the city's most impressive palaces.

Participants in the 10k race run the last ten kilometres of the marathon course, starting about three kilometres south of the finish area.
