9th Half Marathon "Winged Victory"

Viale della Vittoria, Vittorio Veneto, Italy

The start is on Viale della Vittoria in Vittorio Veneto

Vittorio Veneto is a town with a population of about 30,000, situated at the foot of the Venetian Prealps in northern Italy.

The town not only plays host to the start of the Treviso Marathon in March but also to two popular running events in February — the 13k "Crossroad" and the "Vittoria Alata" half marathon, named after Nike, the "Winged Goddess of Victory".

Despite atrocious weather conditions, over 650 runners finished the half marathon in 2009, with Philemon Kipkering of Kenya (1:06:31) and Laura Giordano of Italy (1:17:20) celebrating victory.

The traffic-free course consists of two equal laps. The first half is slightly downhill on roads, the second half slightly uphill, mostly on cycle paths.
