15th Tabor Race 2010

This is a small road running event in eastern Slovenia, held on a Friday evening in mid-August.

Most entrants usually take part in the 8.5-kilometre race, but the event also includes a 3k run, children's races, and a two-hour guided walk through the countryside.

The start and finish of all races is on the main square of the small town of Ljutomer, situated at the foot of the picturesque Slovenske gorice hills, where fine white wines are produced.

Most visitors to Ljutomer will agree that there's not much to see in town besides horse races, but the region is lovely, in particular the beautiful terraced vineyards around Jeruzalem to the south and the wetlands of the River Mura to the north. There are also several thermal spas in the vicinity.

The 8.5k course is out-and-back along a traffic-free, mostly flat road to the village of Cezanjevci.

The 3k course is on mixed terrain (asphalt and grass).

In 2009, the winners of the main race were Zdenko Klemenčič (28:11) and Jožica Šiftar (36:44).
