Held in Toruń, an old city of about 200,000 people in Poland, the Toruń Maraton offers children's races, a 5k race, a half marathon and a marathon.
Formerly known as Maraton Toruński, it's a long-standing event that has been held since 1983.
The route for the 2024 event will be published on time on the official event website (see link below).
In 2023, the marathon began at the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument in the heart of the beautiful Old Town and ended on the cinder track of the Motoarena speedway stadium (pictured) which is located on the western edge of the city, five kilometres from the start.
The route was a single loop on roads and cycleways through the vast forests and fields north-west of Toruń.
The course had been certified by PZLA, the Polish Athletic Association. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course was about 50 metres. From start to finish, the course featured about 250 metres of ascent.
