The Délibáb Futás (English: ‘Mirage Run’) is a trail running event held on the vast grassland of the Puszta in the Hortobágy National Park, a World Heritage Site in Hungary.

Starting and ending at the Mátai Ménes (Máta Stud), the event offers three race distances for runners to choose from:

  • 7km (one lap)
  • 14km (two laps)
  • 21.1km half marathon (three laps)

Although the route is pancake-flat it's a tough race as it is held on a summer afternoon when the sun is usually blazing hot, and there's no shade at all in the Puszta!

Along the route runners may see long-horn grey cattle, buffaloes, long-wool Racka sheep, horses, and herdsmen in traditional costumes.

The event was last held on 25 June 2016.
