This Silvestrovský běh (New Year's Eve Run) is held in Jihlava, an old town of about 50,000 inhabitants, situated on the border between the historical regions of Bohemia and Moravia in the Czech Republic.

The event offers races for runners of all ages and abilities:

  • 850m for children 7-9 years old and for adult fun runners
  • 1.55km for children 10-15 years old
  • 3km for children 16-17 years old and for women
  • 5.9km for men

The start is at the Smetanovy sady park in front of the Horácký zimní stadion, the hockey arena that is home to the HC Dukla Jihlava, the most successful club in the history of Czech ice hockey.

Women run two laps and men run four laps of a scenic course that winds its way through the park, through the northern part of the historic town centre, and through the hockey arena.

The finish line is inside the arena.

Update 2021:

The course will be a bit shorter this year, so the races will be 1.35km, 2.7km and 5.4km long. The 850m run will not be held.
