More than 500 runners took part in last year's Tudás Útja Félmaraton, a half marathon race that is held annually in early November in Hungary's capital city Budapest.

The race begins and ends at the prestigious Semmelweis University, Hungary's oldest medical school which also offers courses in Physical Education and Sports Sciences.

The route passes several universities, colleges and academies on both sides of the River Danube, as well as some of Budapest's best sights, for instance the Hungarian Parliament Building (the largest building in the country) and the magnificent Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Approximately half of the race is run out and back along the Danube.

In addition to the half marathon, the event offers a 6km run, the Academic 6, a point-to-point race that takes the runners from the Semmelweis University to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (pictured).

Both routes are mostly flat and fast.

Last year, the half marathon winners were Dárius Ádám Farkas (1hr 10min 11sec) and Zsanett Kiss (1hr 23min 3sec).
