The Kaiserdomlauf draws around 600 runners to the town of Bamberg, a gem of an old town and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in Germany's state of Bavaria.

The event features a 10k race, a 5k run and a 2.5k for children.

The route is a flat and fast, certified 2.5km loop through the district of Gaustadt which is home to the 'Brauerei Kaiserdom', the largest of Bamberg's many breweries.

The start and the finish are approximately two kilometres north-west of Bamberg's Cathedral, the Kaiserdom, built on a hill above the beautiful Altstadt (pictured).

In 2014, Mario Wernsdörfer (30:54) and Susanne Lutz (36:10) both set new course records in the 10k race.
