Held in the city centre of Dresden, capital of Germany's state of Saxony and home to more than half a million people, the Citylauf Dresden comprises a 5k run, a 10k race, and children's races.

The 5k is one lap and the 10k is two laps of a gently-undulating course around Dresden's impressive Altstadt which sits on the left bank of the mighty River Elbe.

In 2014, the 10k race recorded more than 1,750 finishers, with Dickson Kurui of Kenya winning the men's race in a time of 29min 58sec. The fastest woman was Alice Kibor, also of Kenya, in a time of 34min 14sec. The 5k run had about 470 finishers.
