The Berglauf Tarvisio is staged in the ski resort of Tarvisio which sits in Italy's north-eastern corner on the borders with Austria and Slovenia.
Starting on Tarvisio's main square, the race features a very challenging 11km-long uphill route which includes 1200m of ascent.
The finish line is at the pilgrimage church of Santuario Monte Lussari, situated at an elevation of 1770m on Mount Lussari.
The race is run on gravel roads, trails and ski slopes.
