The Šmarješki tek usually draws more than 300 runners to Šmarješke Toplice, a small village of just under 500 people, situated in the rolling hills of the Dolenjska region in Slovenia, about half-way between Ljubljana and Zagreb.

Entrants can choose between the 8km race and the 2km run.

The start and finish are at the thermal spa of ‘Terme Krka’. The 8km race follows a lovely undulating route through parkland and woods, mostly on trails.

On the day of the race, participants get free entry to the outdoor pools of Terme Krka — a very fine place to relax after the run!
