The Lausitzer Seenland 100 offers a weekend of sports in the captivating Lausitzer Seenland which is due to become by 2018 Europe's largest artificial lakeland region.

Around 2000 runners, cyclists, inline skaters, kickbike riders, swimmers and walkers from eastern Germany and far beyond are expected to take part in the event.

Runners can choose between various races for all ages and abilities.

The marathon and the 10km, 5km and 2km races are out-and-back courses that begin and end at the brand-new marina in the town of Senftenberg, which sits on the shores of the Senftenberger See (pictured above in the top left corner), one of the largest of the former lignite open cast mines that have been transformed into lakes.

Participants in the half marathon join the marathon runners on the second half of the course. All routes are on asphalt and accurately measured.
