The Gorski tek na Osolnik is a small but very atmospheric mountain running race, staged in the alpine foothills to the west of Slovenia's capital city Ljubljana.

Although the route is just 4.7 kilometres long, the race is a true test for every runner. The first part of the route is a flat run on an asphalt road through the forest but the course includes 525 metres of ascent, and all the climbing comes on the last three kilometres which are run on steep forest trails.

The start is in the village of Godešič, approximately twenty kilometres from Ljubljana and just about four kilometres from the picturesque old town of Škofja Loka.

The finishing line is on the summit of Osolnik (858m), a densely wooded hill with a church and lovely meadows on top.

Every year, a number of Slovenia's best mountain runners take part in the race. In 2011, the fastest finishers were Simon Alič (25:31) and Lea Einfalt (32:07).
