The Šmarješki tek offers an 8K and a 2K run around the thermal spa of "Terme Krka" in the village of Šmarješke Toplice, situated amid the rolling hills of Slovenia's Dolenjska region, half-way between Ljubljana and Zagreb.

After the race, participants get free entry to the spa's outdoor pools.

The route is undulating and mostly on trails. Competitors run through the park of the spa, along a brook, and through woods.

Last year, the event had over 300 participants. The 8K winners were Boštjan Hrovat (26:08) and Mateja Šuštaršič (32:11).

Due to bad weather the Šmarješki tek has been postponed from 15 May to 19 June 2011!
