Twenty-one kilometres on trails through a European capital city - that's unusual indeed!

The Savski polumaraton takes runners along both banks of the River Sava, which flows through the southern part of Croatia's capital Zagreb.

Competitors run on grass and dirt trails on the dikes along the river, far from any traffic.

Last year, the half marathon had 200 finishers, and 72 runners took part in the 5K race. The half marathon winners were Goran Murić (1:13:55) and Veronika Jurišić (1:29:24).
