8th Frohnleiten Town Run 2010

The small, pretty and sleepy town of Frohnleiten is located in the narrow industrialized Mur Valley, 30 kilometres north of Graz, Austria's second largest city. It's easy to reach by train as it's on the main line from Graz to Vienna.

Every year at the end of June Frohnleiten comes to life when about 400 runners fill the neat and tidy Hauptplatz to run either 4.8 kilometres (one lap) or 9.6 kilometres (two laps) around town.

The route is undulating and nice. At first, it's mildly uphill to the village of Adriach, then downhill to the River Mur, and then on a hard dirt trail along the river back to the main square.

In 2009, the 9.6k winners were Thomas Rossmann (31:17) and Sabine Hofer (37:34).
