2. Radobojski maraton 2009
2nd Radoboj Marathon
A marathon doesn't need to be 42.195km long in the Zagorje in northern Croatia, a delightful area of wooded hills, lush vineyards, cornfields, vegetable plots, old cottages, and the odd castle.
This race features a course of 18.77km. The route is quite challenging as it's very hilly and some climbs are pretty steep. About 80 per cent of the course is on asphalt roads. Some sections are on dirt roads and trails which can get a bit slippery in case of rain. You can expect drinks stations every 4km.
It's a small event without any entry fees but with many prizes and presents, and after the race all runners will come together for a "hunter's goulash".
Radoboj is a village 5km from the town of Krapina, which is on the motorway Maribor-Zagreb.
In 2008, the course was about 3.5km shorter. The winners were Dražen Dinjar and Dubravka Šimetski Samoblec.
