Bromara - Slavonski Brod Half Marathon 2009
Slavonski Brod is a town of about 60,000 inhabitants, located on the River Sava in Slavonia, a fertile lowland area in the east of Croatia. It's also an important crossing point into Bosnia, which lies on the opposite bank of the river. The town was heavily damaged in the war in 1992.
The Brod Half Marathon is a small event, held on a flat and fast course. Within the last years, many elite runners from neighbouring countries have made their appearance. In 2008, five Hungarian men and two athletes from Serbia finished in the top 10. The winners, however, were Dinjar Dražen of Croatia (1:10:29) and Ida Šurbek of Slovenia (1:22:24).

*strangely, runners from foreign countries are eligible only for prize money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and for the 1st place in the categories; prizes are not cumulative
