2nd International Mountain Race - uphill
A very strong field of mountain runners will come together in the ski and holiday resort of Tarvisio, very close to the Austrian and the Slovene border. This year, the event hosts the Italian mountain running championships, which serve as the qualifier for the European mountain running championships 2009.
The Italian championships for juniors (4.5km) and for women (6km) will be held on Saturday afternoon. The men competing for the national title will start together with the men and women in the international 'Berglauf' of 11km on Sunday morning.
From the start on Tarvisio's main square (at an elevation of 745 metres) you will run on the World cup ski slopes and through forests to the Sanctuary on Mount Lussari (1770m).
After 7.5km there will be a long downhill section of 1.5km. Overall, the ascent will be 1200 metres.
