12. Tek okoli Bohinjskega jezera 2009
12th Race around Lake Bohinj
Bohinjsko jezero (Slovenia), Saturday 8 August 2009
Lake Bohinj, located in the Triglav National Park in the heart of the Julian Alps, is Slovenia's largest lake, over 4 kilometres long and up to 1.2 kilometres wide.
The clear, cold waters of this deep glacial lake are wonderful for a swim in the summer but you may have to share the beach with the odd cow.
The 12k race around the lake runs all the way through woods and across some grass sections.
Along the northern shore the race follows a very narrow trail with lots of roots and rocks.
On your way back to the finish you run along the footpath beside the road.
The course is mildly undulating and offers beautiful views of the lake.
In 2008, the winners were Marko Pintar (38:27) and Petra Race (47:14).
