Around Körmend 2009

Körmend, Batthyány-Strattman Castle

The start and the finish are at the Batthyány-Strattman Castle.

Körmend is a small town of about 12,000 inhabitants in the far west of Hungary, widely known for its massive Batthyány-Strattman Castle, a grand Baroque building with four corner towers. Next to the castle is a lovely park with many old trees and fine magnolias — a very fine setting for a running event.

The event will start off in the afternoon. Plenty of children will dash through the park and bring the honourable place to life. After that, the 5km and the 10km runners will start their tour around Körmend and through the park to the exclusive finish in front of the castle. 5k runners will come home after one lap, 10k runners will go on a second lap.

Körbe Körmend has been included into the CERR-Cup, a series of ten races held in the Austria-Hungary-Slovenia border region.
