Held since 1924 in Košice, Slovakia's second-largest city with a population of about 240,000, the Peace Marathon (Slovak: Maratón Mieru) is Europe's oldest marathon race.

It also attracts the biggest field and the fastest athletes of all marathons in Slovakia.

These are the races available:

  • 4.2km Minimaratón
  • 21.1km Polmaratón
  • 42.2km Maratón
  • 42.2km Štafeta (Relay: 12km+9km+12km+9km)
  • 20km Inline skating
  • 20km Handbike & Wheelchairs

The full marathon is two laps of the half marathon course which is IAAF/AIMS-certified, traffic-free and mainly flat and fast. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is 16 metres. Each lap features 37 metres of elevation gain.

Starting and finishing on Hlavná ulica in the heart of the city, the route runs through Košice's very pretty Old Town and through residential areas in the northern and southern parts of the city.
