Dębno Marathon, ca. 1966-1968 (Copyright © 2013 Dębno Marathon)

Held for the first time in 1969, the Maraton Dębno is Poland's oldest 42.195km marathon race.

It is a prestigious road running event that has attracted many international top runners, for instance England's Ron Hill who won the 1975 race in 2:12:35, or Christa Vahlensieck of Germany, the first woman winner in Dębno in 1979 (2:41:57).

The start and the finish are in the small town of Dębno which is situated in the West Pomerania Province near the border with Germany, approximately 110 kilometres from Berlin.

The route consists of two laps (about 17km each) through the town, through forests and rural areas and through the villages of Dargomyśl and Cychry, followed by two laps (about 4km each) through Dębno.

The course is mostly flat and fast and closed to traffic during the race, and it has been accurately measured and certified.

In addition to the marathon, the event offers a 10k race.
