This félmaraton (half marathon) follows a challenging and very scenic two-lap course through Veszprém, an old town of about 60,000 people, situated thirteen kilometres from the northern shore of Lake Balaton in Hungary.
The route winds its way through the town centre, residential areas and parkland. It takes the runners around the várhegy (castle hill, pictured above), it passes the main building of the Pannon Egyetem (University of Pannonia), and it crosses the imposing Szent István völgyhíd (St. Stephen’s Viaduct) which commands superb views of the castle district and of the wooded hills of the Bakony region.
The finish line is in the História kert gardens:
- 26 August 2018 (Sunday)
- 11km (individual runners, 2-person relay teams)
- 21.1km (individual runners, 2-person relay teams, 4-person relay teams)
