Held on the Baltic Sea island of Fehmarn in Germany, the Fehmarn Marathon is a multi-terrain running event for those who love the fresh air and don't mind a stiff breeze.

It's a family-friendly event offering races for all ages:

  • 1.5km Minilauf (kids' run)
  • 3.2km Doppelmeile (2-mile race)
  • 11.2km Viertelmarathon (quarter marathon)
  • 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon)
  • 42.2km Marathon (marathon)

All races begin and end on the athletics track in Burg, the biggest settlement on the island.

The full marathon features a scenic single-loop course which takes the runners on mixed terrain (asphalt, gravel, dikes) around the beach resort of Burgtiefe, along the south coast and the east coast, and through the pancake-flat agricultural interior of the island.

Fehmarn is connected to the German mainland by a road and rail bridge. There are also ferry connections with Denmark.
