This Horský půlmaraton (Mountain Half Marathon) is held in the Krušné hory (English: Ore Mountains; German: Erzgebirge), a 130km-long mountain range that stretches along the Czechia-Germany border.

The starting and finishing line is on the edge of the highest town in the Czech Republic, Boží Dar, which sits at an elevation of 1,028 metres on the ridge of the Krušné hory, right on the border with Germany.

Boží Dar is a very pretty small town of just over 200 inhabitants, popular with skiers in the winter and hillwalkers in the summer.

The race is a scenic and hilly run through beautiful forests and moorland, mainly on gravel roads and trails.

The route also takes the runners through the old mining village of Zlatý Kopec which is, according to the last census in 2011, home to one resident.

In addition to the half marathon, the event offers a 12km run and a kids' race.

The event was last held in June 2018.
