The Nymburský půlmaraton (Nymburk Half Marathon) in Czechia takes runners along the beautiful green banks of the Elbe (Czech: Labe) river.

Entrants have the choice between the 10k race (Nymburská čtvrtka) and the half marathon (Nymburský půlmaraton).

Both races begin and end at the medieval town walls of Nymburk (pictured above), a small town of about 15,000 inhabitants, situated approximately fifty kilometres east of Prague.

Participants in the half marathon run two laps of the 10k course. The second lap includes a short out-and-back section along the river to make it a half marathon.

The race is run mainly on flat asphalt bikeways along both banks of the river.

Runners just need to be prepared for crossing two Elbe bridges. Near the village of Chvalovice they have to run up and down 60 stairs at a massive road bridge, and in Nymburk they run across the new barrier-free footbridge at the hydroelectric power plant.
