This horský půlmaraton (mountain half marathon) is held at the Czech Republic's largest lake, the 42km-long Lipno Reservoir (pictured), situated at an elevation of 725m near the border with Austria.

The race is the sixth of ten races of the ‘Salomon Trail Running Cup’ (STRC).

It also forms part of the ‘Lipno Sport Fest 2014’ which offers nine days of sports activities like archery, climbing, cycling, inline-skating, windsurfing, and more.

The race is run on mixed terrain (trails, gravel, ski slopes, and asphalt), starting and finishing in Lipno nad Vltavou, a modern summer and winter sports resort, located close to a hydroelectric dam across the River Vltava.

The highest point on the course is on top of the Stezka korunami stromů (Treetop Walkway), a 40m-high observation tower on the summit of Kramolín (900m).

Participants can take their time to enjoy the wonderful panoramic views from the tower — the time limit to complete the course is four hours.
