Organized by the LCC Wien, an athletics club based in Austria's capital city Vienna, the Frühlingsmarathon (Spring Marathon) features a completely flat, very fast and AIMS-certified course that offers a fine opportunity to set a personal record over the marathon or half marathon distance.

These races are available:

Race distance
No. of finishers 2017
7.03km 7km-Lauf 7k race 134
21.1km Halbmarathon half marathon 151
42.2km Marathon marathon 42
3 x 7.03km Halbmarathonstaffel half marathon relay  1 team
6 x 7.03km Marathonstaffel marathon relay

The route is a 7,032.5-metre-long loop through Vienna's largest public park, the Prater, which is home to various sports venues as well as to the "Wurstelprater" amusement park with its famous Riesenrad (Ferris Wheel, pictured above).

Participants in the half marathon run three laps of this course. The marathon is six laps. The time limit to complete the course is four and a half hours.

In 2017, the event had 330 finishers.

It took place two weeks before the Vienna City Marathon, a massive event that attracts a crowd of more than 30,000 runners every year.

This year, the Frühlingsmarathon will be held just one week before the Vienna City Marathon.
