Jesolo (Italy), Saturday 27 May 2017
Held on a point-to-point course in the Province of Venice in northern Italy, the Moonlight Half Marathon is a tremendously scenic and atmospheric road race.
Last year, more than 3,400 runners completed the mezza maratona (half marathon), and over 400 took part in the supporting 10k run.
The half marathon starts off at 8pm at Punta Sabbioni, a port near the city of Venice.
The first half of the race is run along a canal in the quiet and beautiful Venetian Lagoon.
But the character of the race changes completely when runners approach Lido di Jesolo, one of the major beach resorts on the northern Adriatiac.
You can expect rock bands and many spectators along the course to create an electrifying atmosphere.
The route is certified by the Italian Athletics Federation FIDAL. It is closed to all traffic during the race, and apart from one bridge it's completely flat.
Participants in the 10k race run the last ten kilometres of the half marathon.
