With approximately 15,000 finishers in three races (5km, 10km and 21.1km half marathon), the Stadtlauf München is one of the biggest running events in Germany.

In order to avoid overcrowding on the course, the races are held one after the other:

  • 8.00am: 21.1km
  • 8.20am: 2km (children 12 years and under)
  • 10.35am: 10km
  • 12.45am: 5km (run, walking, nordic walking)

Starting on Marienplatz (pictured), Munich's main square, the route runs through the city centre, around the baroque Hofgarten, across the magnificent Odeonsplatz and through the vast Englischer Garten, one of Europe's largest public parks.

Instead of a bib, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race.
