The Malý štrbský maratón connects three very pretty villages in the mountainous Prešov Region in northern Slovakia — Štrba, Šuňava and Liptovská Teplička.

Entrants can choose between two hilly road races, 10km and 31km long.

The start/finish line is in Štrba which sits in a green valley between two mountain ranges, the High Tatras to the north and the Low Tatras to the south.

Both routes run through beautiful woods and grassland into the foothills of the Low Tatras, offering fantastic views of the High Tatras.

The routes split at the 3km mark in Šuňava. The 10km runners turn left to run through the village and then along a different road back to Štrba whereas the participants in the 31km race turn right to run out and back to Liptovská Teplička.

The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the 31km course is about 100 metres.

The course is not closed to traffic during the race.
