Held in the North Sea port of Bremerhaven, the City Marathon attracts around 800 to 1,000 runners of all ages and abilities.
The event offers children's races, a 5k (one lap), a 10k (two laps), a half marathon (two laps), a full marathon (four laps) and a marathon relay for teams of four runners.
Starting and finishing on Bremerhaven's pedestrianized main shopping street, the route takes the runners through the city centre as well as through residential areas and parkland.
